Grilled Barbecue Cabbage Recipe

Delicious Grilled Vegetable Recipe

My family is in love with Paul Deans Grilled Cabbage Recipe. This may take a little work, but is a great side dish that can stand up beside any cut of meat, or poultry that you throw on the grill beside it. I don t have many cabbage recipes that my kids will actually eat, but this is one that gets rave reviews.

Did you know that cabbage is full of antioxidants? Cabbage has the ability to disarm free radicals before they can harm your DNA, and cell membranes. New studies are revealing that phytonutrients in crucifers, such as cabbage, work at a much deeper level than researchers ever imagined. Phytonutrients compounds actually signal your genes to increase production of enzymes involved in detoxification process that can help your body purge and eliminate harmful compounds. So, eating or grilling cruciferous vegetables may help to lower your risk of cancer more effectively than any other vegetables or fruits.

Now when you take that into consideration; Doesn t it make the little extra time it takes to prepare this delicious side dish worthwhile? Enjoy!

How To Parboil Cabbage

Parboiling is a cooking method in which the food you are preparing is partially cooked in boiling water, but removed before it can cook all the way through.

To parboil the cabbage: Clean cabbage head under running water, and remove outer wilted leaves. Fill a pot on the stove with boiling water and bring to a boil. Place cabbage into the boiling water until it starts to soften. Drain the cabbage and run cold water over it so that the color will set and the food will not turn to mush. Set the cabbage aside until you are ready to grill, or put it into a storage container if you do not intend to use it right away
