Salmon Recipes: Blueberry Glazed Barbecued Salmon

Delicious cedar plank salmon recipes are pretty easy to prepare, but they do require a little more attention, and pre-planning. Prep includes soaking the cedar planks before your plop them on your grill. Basically you are going to be turning your barbecue grill into a smoker.

You will soon discover that the little bit of effort will pay off, and leave you wanting to create even more savory smoky meals in your barbecue grill.

Cedar Plank Salmon Recipe

Blueberry Glazed Barbecue Salmon

Serves 2-4


Ingredients

1 cedar plank (6 by 14 inches)
2 salmon fillets (1 1/2 pounds total)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp blueberry jam or jelly
2 tsp barbecue sauce

Start soaking cedar plank in salted water for two hours, and then drain off the liquid.

Mean while you will want to remove the skin from the salmon fillet, and discard any bones.

Rinse the salmon under cold running water, and use a paper towel to  pat dry.

Generously season with salt and pepper on both sides to taste.

Mix in a small bowl blueberry jam, and barbecue sauce

Place the salmon on the side you removed the skin  on the cedar plank, and  spread 1/2 the blueberry sauce over the top and sides.

Set your grill for indirect grilling and heat to medium-high.

You will need to place the cedar plank with salmon on it, in the center of the hot grate, away from the heat.

Cover the grill and cook the salmon cook around 20 to 30 minutes. The internal temperature of the fish should read 135 degrees F.

Transfer the blueberry glazed salmon and plank to a platter and serve the salmon off the plank. Serve with the remainder of the blueberry sauce on the side

TIP: It is important to cook the salmon over indirect heat so that the plank edges don’t catch fire, but if they should mist with water and reposition the plank on a cooler spot on the grill.

Cedar Plank Salmon Recipe With Brown Sugar Glaze

Ingredients

1 cedar plank (6 by 14 inches)
2 salmon fillets (1 1/2 pounds total)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
6 tablespoons Dijon mustard
tablespoons brown sugar

Follow Directions as above
